Dr. Hailong Chen completed his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2015. Dr. Chen obtained BS degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from Shanghai Normal University (China) in 2010, and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Florida in 2012. Prior to joining UK, Dr. Chen worked as Postdoctoral Computational Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory from 11/2015 to 08/2018. From 09/2018 to 07/2024, Dr. Chen was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UK.
Dr. Chen's research interests lie in the broad area of computational mechanics & materials, with focus on non-local meshfree methods and their applications.
Dr. Chen is a member of several professional communities, including American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and United State Association for Computational Mechanics (USACM). Dr. Chen is an Associate Editor of the CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences journal.
